Building Community Gardens

At The Hills Food Frontier Inc our dream is to have a community garden in every village of The Dandenong Ranges with food forests in between.

In 2014 we made a start on that dream by building a community garden in Tecoma. The Tecoma FLAME Garden was developed in partnership with Tecoma Uniting Church.

The garden consists of five apple crate wicking beds loaded with seasonal veggies and companion plants. We also have some great compost that we make regularly using “hot compost” methods. Come to a working bee to find out more.

Everyone is welcome to visit the garden and help yourself to produce. We also ask that you come to our working bees or help out in our care of the garden roster.

The FLAME Garden group meets regularly, go to the Events page to find out more or email us at hello@thehillsfoodfrontier.org.au to find out more.
